HangarStarts – MQ-9 Repears Find A Hangar

MQ-9 Reaper Hangar Fort DrumFort Drum, New York is home to a new hangar measuring nearly 13,000 square feet. The hangar will be the base for the MQ-9 aircraft. Initial design concepts began in 2008 with ground breaking taking place several years later in the fall of 2012.

The facility is home to several energy efficient systems including a passive solar wall that collects warm air for interior heating. Geothermal heating, radiant floor heat and high-efficiency T8 fluorescent lighting offer a very energy efficient structure.

The coordination between the military and its contractors was precise. As a result, the entire project required only eight change orders. Fort Drum is home to the 174th Attack Wing of the NYANG.
